In his personal life, he always had very little. He didn’t own a house and travelled between the frontlines and Isfahan using public transport. Sometimes, his father would protest:
“Aren’t you the Imam’s representative in the southern front? So why don’t you have an official vehicle?”
But it never made a difference. He would never act against his inner convictions.
One day, he overheard his father say,
“This can’t go on. You’ve settled your family in a six-metre room in Ahvaz! That’s no way for someone like you to live. You need to think about getting a proper home.”
The Shaykh smiled and replied,
“Dear father, God forbid I ever build myself a home in this world using worldly wealth.”
