Martyr Haj Rahimi: A Life of Dedication, Integrity, and Inspiring Leadership
Remembering a Senior Commander in Syria
Martyr Haj Rahimi, a senior commander martyred by Israel, during the bombing of Iran’s Consular Section in Syria, was known for his unwavering dedication, strict adherence to ethical principles, and an inspiring leadership style that left a lasting impact on those who served with him.
Uncompromising Integrity
Haj Rahimi was known for his strict adherence to the principle of not using public funds for personal expenses. Instances were recounted where, faced with late-night travel, he would prioritise the convenience of his driver, even if it meant inconveniencing himself. He would either drive himself or ask the driver to drop him off part of the way, ensuring the driver could return home without excessive delay.
His son, Mohsen, shared an anecdote illustrating this commitment:
"I didn’t have a car so I asked him to take me, and he took me as far as was on his way. He told me I needed to go the rest of the way myself. Later he said that he had paid “radd al-madhalim” (alms to pay a debt) for the two times that they had taken me.”
This level of conscientiousness underscored his deep respect for public resources.
Magnetic Personality and Moral Strength
Haj Rahimi possessed a unique and compelling personality. His behaviour and morals were so captivating that even a single encounter could leave a lasting impression. This magnetism played a crucial role in his success in carrying out missions.
His exceptional morals fostered a strong sense of loyalty and dedication among his colleagues. Regardless of age or experience, those who worked with him were inspired to give their utmost. His outstanding moral character was a key factor in his effectiveness as a leader.
Commitment to Execution
Another defining trait of Haj Rahimi was his unwavering commitment to executing orders. Once a command was given, he would dedicate himself to its implementation from the very moment it was issued.
He instilled in his troops the belief that no mission was impossible. While he would advocate for resources and address challenges, he refused to accept the notion that a task could not be accomplished due to insufficient equipment. He rejected the word "impossible" and fostered a culture of perseverance.
Strategic Vision and Comprehensive Planning
General Haj Rahimi possessed a remarkable ability to consider the broader strategic landscape. His planning and judgment were highly valued, and his insights often proved prescient. Actions he took or issues he emphasised would frequently gain greater significance months later, demonstrating his foresight.
Unwavering Support for His Troops
When deployed to Syria or on other missions, Haj Rahimi made it a point to personally check on all the forces under his command, without exception. He diligently followed up on any problems and provided support wherever possible. This dedication to his troops' well-being was integral to his leadership.
Multifaceted Mission Command
Beyond combating Daesh and other Takfiri groups in Iraq and Syria, the unit under Martyr Haj Rahimi's command was assigned numerous other simultaneous missions. He had a knack for identifying the right individuals to lead these diverse tasks, ensuring that all responsibilities were effectively managed.
