Martyr Mohsen Hojaji: A Radiant Proof of Faith in an Age of Deception
Ayatollah Khamenei Underscores the Legacy of Martyr Hojaji and the Urgent Mission to Nurture Revolutionary Values Among the Youth
In a significant address to cultural officials and activists from Yazd and Hamadan on August 21, 2017, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, reflected on the enduring legacy of Martyr Mohsen Hojaji. He described the young martyr as a luminous symbol of unwavering faith and revolutionary zeal—a clear divine sign in an age dominated by media distortion and ideological confusion.
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasised that Martyr Hojaji’s sacrifice served as “God’s proof before all eyes,” a powerful testament in a time when truth is often obscured by propaganda. He urged cultural authorities to take seriously their responsibility in cultivating revolutionary consciousness, especially among the younger generations who are both the most targeted and the most capable of transformation.
Despite the hostile influence of misleading narratives aimed at weakening spiritual resolve, the Leader noted that countless youth continue to rise with sincerity and commitment, prepared to defend their beliefs even at great personal cost. This, he said, is a hopeful sign of divine support and a call to further invest in nurturing these souls.
A Life Rooted in Service and Sacrifice
Martyr Hojaji’s greatness was not limited to the battlefield; it was reflected in his everyday life of humility and service. In Isfahan province, a Hoseiniyyeh is known for holding forty consecutive nights of mourning gatherings (rowzeh). For two years, Mohsen Hojaji volunteered there, journeying nearly 50 kilometers from Najafabad to assist in any way he could. Upon joining the volunteer group, he made two humble requests:
“Please assign me tasks behind the scenes, away from public view,” and “Give me the most difficult duties.”
Even when exhausted from heavy labour, Mohsen never uttered a word of complaint. On nights when his weariness was visible and others apologised for overburdening him, he would calmly respond,
“For Imam Husayn, the only thing worth offering is your head.”
His quiet devotion and tireless spirit left a deep impact on all who knew him.
Ayatollah Khamenei called upon cultural officials to channel their efforts toward the religious and moral formation of youth, asserting that spiritual refinement must go hand in hand with the development of revolutionary values. He cautioned against any actions that might weaken this vital movement or lend strength to adversarial cultural, academic, or religious currents.
Carrying the Torch Forward
In conclusion, the Leader reaffirmed the profound significance of Martyr Hojaji’s legacy. He encouraged all responsible bodies to recognise and support the growing wave of passionate, principled youth—young men and women who are determined to uphold the ideals of the Islamic Revolution with sincerity, courage, and faith. These youth, he stressed, are the future bearers of the Revolution’s light and mission.
