Martyrdom in Sana’a: Houthi Prime Minister and Ministers Assassinated in Israeli Strikes
Israeli airstrikes on Sana’a martyr Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and several ministers during a government workshop.
In a tragic and defiant moment for Yemen’s de facto leadership, Israeli airstrikes in Sana’a have assassinated Ahmed Ghaleb al‑Rahawi, Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction, alongside several of his fellow ministers, according to an official statement from the presidency and carried by Press TV.
The attack struck amid a routine workshop held by the government to assess its performance over the previous year. The presidency’s statement described the Israeli enemy as "criminal and treacherous," stressing that this assault occurred while the officials were gathered in a setting intended for administrative reflection, not warfare.
Despite the shock and devastation, the presidency reassured the resilient Yemeni people that, with God’s support, the government will function in a caretaker capacity, ensuring institutional continuity and unimpeded provision of services to the nation.
The statement proclaimed that the “blood of our great martyrs will motivate us to continue treading the path.”
In a sweeping gesture of solidarity, the statement extended its resolve to all oppressed Palestinians and freedom-loving peoples worldwide, affirming unwavering support for Gaza. It also pledged that Yemeni armed forces will continue to bolster their defensive capabilities to confront looming challenges and threats.
In the wake of the attack, Mahdi al‑Mashat, President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, has appointed Mohammed Ahmed Ahmed Miftah as the caretaker prime minister, ensuring the government remains operational during this period of mourning and resistance. Al‑Rahawi had held the prime minister’s office in the Houthi-controlled territory since August 2024.
