The Legacy of Blood and Hope

Fatima Mughniyeh’s Words Before Imam Khamenei

In a moment heavy with history, Fatima, daughter of the martyr Imad Mughniyeh, stood before Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Ummah, and delivered words that echoed with the spirit of her father’s sacrifice and the promise of her generation.

Her speech was not merely remembrance — it was a declaration that the blood of martyrs continues to nourish the tree of resistance, that revolutions remain alive through faith, and that hope is sustained by the certainty of divine victory.

She began by reminding the Ummah:

“Congratulations to us, and to the Ummah in both its East and West. Today, history is tied to history, blood to blood, jihad to jihad, revolution to revolution, and victory to victory.”

The cause, she affirmed, is one: the cause of awakening, of hope, and of action. She evoked the image of a man from Qom who rose when the world was asleep — a man who performed ablution from the river of prophethood and drew strength from the noblest of messages. From the depths of history, he declared:

“Death after oppression is life.”
— Imam Khomeini

This powerful phrase is attributed to Imam Khomeini (RA) in the early days of the Islamic Revolution. With it, he emphasised that to live under tyranny and humiliation is worse than death itself, and that martyrdom in the path of resistance is the truest and most eternal form of life.

These words resonate deeply with the spirit of Imam Husayn (AS) at Karbala, who declared:

“Death with dignity is better than life with humiliation.”

By invoking this heritage, Fatima Mughniyeh was not merely recalling a phrase, but connecting three epochs into one unbroken chain — Karbala, the Islamic Revolution, and the present struggle of resistance. It is this living continuity that keeps the Ummah awake, hopeful, and steadfast in the face of oppression.

Her voice rang with conviction as she called upon the Ummah:

“Your mosques are your fortresses — do not abandon them. For in them lies the secret of victory, the pulse of awakening, and the honour of the Ummah. Let its throne be lifted by the hands of its youth, carried in the minds and hearts of its youth. Let the banner of Allah rise in the hands of His men, under the command of His Remaining Proof — Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance).”

Before Imam Khamenei, Fatima spoke not only as the daughter of a martyr but as the voice of a new generation of resistance. Her words carried the weight of her father’s blood, the dreams of her people, and the unshakable belief that the struggle continues until the banner of justice is raised.

Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you.
