The Shadow Commander of Palestine - Shaheed Mohammad Sa'eed Eizadi
Remembering Haj Ramadan, the Man Behind Gaza’s Resistance
No one truly knew Haj Ramadan. Even his closest allies spoke of him in awe.
The Lebanese would whisper, “We believe he had ṭayy al-arḍh—the miraculous ability to traverse the earth. We don’t know how, only that we’d see him enter the heart of Gaza and then return as if no barriers existed.”
As the commander of the Palestine Corps of Iran’s Quds Force and the chief coordinator of Palestinian resistance, Haj Ramadan left a profound mark on the struggle against Israel. Many of the groups fighting in Gaza today were trained, organised, and guided under his direction. His strategic genius dealt Israel some of its heaviest blows in recent years.
He himself once said with striking humility:
“If they kill me, you don’t need to take revenge for me. I’ve already taken revenge ten times over.”
But beyond his military legacy lay a man of profound faith. His son recalls:
“My father would stand and recite the Quran for three hours a day, sometimes completing as much as five juz’ in one sitting. Not a single day passed without him reciting Ziyarat Jami‘ah Kabirah.”
Haj Ramadan was martyred in Qom during the 12-Day War, but his spirit lives on in the very resistance he helped to shape. To his comrades, he was more than a commander—he was a teacher, a guardian, and a man whose unseen footsteps continue to echo through Gaza’s defiance.
